Counselling may be more appropriate or practical than either Day Care or Residential Treatment for some people. For example, someone who has a full time job may be unable to attend a residential treatment centre. Similarly, someone who has children may only be able to secure a child minder for an hour or two in the daytime. In situations like this, using a local counsellor - where appointments can be made to suit the circumstances of the individual seeking help - may be the best solution.
You will be able to find details of Counsellors in your local area by looking in the telephone book or the Yellow Pages. Alternatively, most doctors surgeries provide a counselling service - or will be able to recommend a counsellor. Ask your doctor what counselling services are available.
Some private Counsellors usually make a charge for their services - although help may be available for you with these costs. Ask the counsellor about this. Counselling services associated with your doctor's surgery will not charge for their help.
We intend to put contact details of some counsellors that we are able to recommend on this website. These will be listed below - and we will continually be adding to the list.
